I'm an award-winning artist specializing in watermedia, particularly watercolor and watercolor batik. I'm drawn to watercolor for its ability to layer colors and create transparency, allowing for spontaneous expression. My work is known for its vibrant hues, brightness, and rich tonal depth.

Living near a public park, I find joy in both hiking through its trails and capturing its natural beauty through painting. Each moment spent in nature leaves a lasting impression, shaping cherished memories. Whether I'm painting from photographs or drawing on personal recollections, I carefully choose elements that resonate with me, weaving them together to create artworks that hold personal significance. Using my unique watercolor batik techniques, I aim to capture the essence of Texas landscapes, its vibrant flora, and fauna. In 2019, I was honored to be among the 30 Texas artists selected for the Art of Texas Park project, earning recognition as one of the "Centennial Painters" by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.

In my watercolor batik artworks, I experiment with a range of Oriental papers such as Korean Hanji, Japanese wash, and Thai Unryu. Utilizing optical color mixing techniques, my paintings offer a unique viewing experience. From afar, the images are perceived as intended, yet upon closer inspection, they reveal a playful burst of vibrant colors. By layering vibrant hues over a soft wet-in-wet wash, I achieve a watercolor-like effect. Additionally, alternating layers of watercolor wash and wax create captivating shapes and colors, reminiscent of impressionism while adding a delightful depth to the pieces.

While my primary inspiration stems from nature and landscapes, I'm also drawn to exploring various subjects and styles, particularly abstract art. Within my abstract pieces, I revel in the freedom of working with organic lines and shapes. Often, I embark on these creations without a predetermined concept in mind, allowing my intuition to guide me. If a particular theme or color palette catches my eye, I may create a series or pair of paintings to experiment with different permutations and combinations. Through the spontaneous interplay of lines and shapes, new ideas emerge, and the artwork takes on a life of its own, evoking responses from my intuition and emotions.

Having earned signature memberships in prominent watercolor organizations across Texas, my artworks have garnered recognition for their abundant color and vibrant beauty. They've found homes in numerous private and public collections worldwide, spanning from the UK and Canada to Australia, Dubai-UAE, Israel, Switzerland, and South Korea. My artistic journey isn't confined to one style; I strive for continual evolution, embracing experimentation to enrich my creativity and artistic vision. My hope is that my creations bring joy and foster a deeper appreciation for both the medium and the subjects I depict, just as they do for me.
